Mark
Cathy has taught Mark from the beginning. Starting to ride in his 30's, Mark is keen on jumping, and it is his goal to compete in a CCI* event.

His first year of training included basic riding lessons, hacking and organised pleasure rides (thank you Essex Bridleways Association!)
His second year (2010) included show-jumping lessons, cross country schooling and his first cross country win, and his first dressage shows (and wins).
This year (2011) he has jumped double clear at his first show-jumping show (affiliated on a ticket) and been placed at his first ever One Day Event at Chilham, Kent - pictured below.

Working in the City, Mark only really gets time to ride at the weekend, but is a fantastic example of what can be achieved with a sensible programme of training, a suitable horse and targeted competition goals. Cathy schooling the horse in the week probably helps too :-)

Jane
Jane has ridden horses for many years, but had never had lessons before meeting Cathy in 2010.

Jane loves her hacking, and rides out with Cathy twice a week. In order to improve her riding technique and position, Cathy and Jane agreed a plan, which included taking part in her first ever competition - a dressage test at Runningwell in July 2011.

Jane struggled with learning to ride the school movements required in the test, the positions of the letters and the idea of 'being watched'.
Cathy and Jane worked together, and on the 11th July took part in her first show - and won the class!

In addition to winning at her first attempt, she had also just passed her first BHS exam -  the Horse Owner's Cert. Level 1 - all part of the plan!
